The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measurement tool that compares our height to your weight and gives us an indication of whether we are overweight, underweight or at a healthy weight for our height. BMI= weight in pounds*703/(height in inches*height in inches)

First of all, one need to measure his or her height and mass. The measurements have to be converted into metres and kilograms respectively through unit conversions if the measurements taken are not these units. Then one's BMI value can be calculated by dividing the mass with the height twice.

Its a simple formula into which you plug your height and weight - BMI = (weight in lbs.)/(height in inches)*703. There are many free online calculators available.

Take your weight in pounds and divide it by your height in inches. Take that number and multiply it by 703. The result is your BMI.
