How do I butt an existing deck to a new deck?

When you start building your deck, you will simply need to start from the old deck at a take-off point. Connect your new frame at the take off point. Be sure you start your Frame low enough, where when you lay your decking on top it is not too high.

You will need to remove any railings from the existing deck. Build your new deck off of the existing deck and then put up new railing. That way you are assured that the new deck will be the same height and width as the old.
