The best advice that I can offer is to listen to a lot of rock guitarists while you are studying classical guitar. This will give you a sound basis on how to play the instrument.

Though it maybe percieved as a lofty goal to reach it is quite the opposite. In this day and age it's as much about charisma as it is musical talent. The best advice to give is learn your instrument, play popular songs, book shows, and hope someone important likes you.

Well, for starters, you need to learn how to play the guitar, not just the basics but also the advance once like they do on concerts. find good bandmates who shares the same interest, and finally find lots and lots of gigs until you're talent get discovered.

Well, assuming that you have a guitar and you are practicing at least 4 hours a day, I would suggest reading as much as you can about the music buisiness. There are many books available about the leagal aspects of being a musician.
