How do Euro clothing sizes run?

For women's fashion, tops and dresses are still a number based system. They run smaller than the US (an eight would wear a 12 or 14). Jeans are by inches.

Europeans sizes are like that of Americans, except they run a little bigger. What we consider a size 2, they would consider a size 4. What we would consider a size 8, they would consider a size 10. If you are looking to purchase some clothing from Europe, you will want to take your size and add two.

For children's clothing the sizes don't run in years, they measure by centimeters for height. In fact, all Euro sizes are based on body measurements measure in centimeters. This standardized measuring varies from country to country.
