It is not common to have two different colored eyes. Having two different colored eyes is called Heterochromia. It is more common in animals than it is in humans. Sometimes Heterochromia is inherited, but it can also be caused by trauma, certain types of medication, and some medical afflictions.

It is not very common to have two different color eyes. I have two different colored eyes due to an accident when I was little, their are quite a few actors/actresses who have two different colored eyes. Their condition is usually not hereditary and their is a company called adventures in color that makes special contacts to correct this.
