Dogs can get cataracts. They can go blind from them, and their eyes start to look funny. In fact that is common problem in dogs. Dogs can also go blind for other reasons as well.

No eye disease is "common". If your dog has eye discharge, inflammation, redness, etc- you need a vet. The only "common" eye issue is the discoloration that some small breeds have, such as poodles, that leave dark streaks without causing a problem to the eyes themselves.

How old is it? Normally some dogs get eye diseased because of aging. The most common case is cataract, with is curable with surgery.
