Really there is no way expect to turn it off or possibly remove the battery. Turning the GPS tracking option can usually be disabled but people could still possibly track you. Cell phones can be located buy using triangulation where it's distance to near towers gives an estimate of where you are.

First you will need your phone, from there you will want to go to your device options,and then click GPS, then set GPS sevices to Location off. This will also disable your maps, but the phone will not be abl to be tracked, except by law enforcement.

look in settings you should be able to turn off the the GPS tracking there and make it only used for 911 calls. that should prevent the unit from being tracked all the time, but they can still track where the phone calls are coming from by trianglation using cell towers.
