Planted in rows, spruces form windbreaks. In snow country, spruce provide beautiful backdrops for scenery. They are perfect Christmas trees. Spruce usually need no pruning, although it will produce thicker trees. These trees also can be noise blockers. Keep in mind good landscapes offer recreation, privacy, pleasure. These trees are slow growing and live long if cared for properly.

You can use a blue spruce in a line of other blue spruces as a wind screen or you could plant the spruce as a ornamental, out by itself as a focal point to your landscaping.

A blue spruce is a large tree that can be the focal point in your landscaping. For this reason, it should have space without other large trees or flowers around it. Rocks, boulders, and shorter plants would go nicely with it.

Depending on the amount of space you have to landscape with, yes you can use a Blue Spruce. If it is a wide open area that will allow the tree to grow try centering it in your landscape. If the area for landscaping is limited, try keeping it trimmed and topped to keep the size small.
