You can treat canine hives by giving your dog a cool bath in oatmeal shampoo to remove the allergens absorbed in its skin. You can also give your dog a topical cream that your veterinarian can prescribe.
It's best to consult a vet before treating canine hives, unless you know what caused them. Milk of Magnesia is great for hives from an allergic reaction to food. Some vets allow you to give your dog Benadryl to help.
Find out what is causing the hives. Could be food, bites or medication. Oral corticosteroids can be administered by vet. Add strong concoction of green or black tea to bath.
