Start by lifting the tail. Look for the "punctuation mark. " A colon (:) is male. An exclamation mark (! ), it's a girl. These may not be obvious in very young kittens.

Gently turn your kitten over and rub its belly towards the tail. If you get a reaction, your cat is male. Another things you can do is look starting under the tail. One hole means male. Two holes means female. You can also ask your vet when you take it in for its shots.

Very simple. Put your kitten on his back and look between his legs. If you see two little balls and an penis, of course it's a male.

When they are very young it is tough to tell, turn them upside down and look between the legs, but if they are too young you will not see anything that looks like anything, ask your vet when you take them for shots and he will be able to tell.
