How can I tell if my cell phone is being tapped?

You can't really "tap" a cell phone. If it's a REALLY old version (more than 10 years old), they might be able to listen in on a scanner. Your parents are likely keeping tabs on WHO you speak with through bills--which I assume they pay for you. Best advice: Don't say anything stupid on the phone.

I don't think you can tell with a cell phone, as there are lots of devices out there that can listen in on those frequencies. If you truly need a private conversation, only do it in person.

Your phone is most likely not tapped. However, if it is, you may notice slower connection times, laggy audio, frequent disconnects, etc.

There are a number of ways - look out for interference or other unusual noises on the line. Also look at the appearance of the cell phone: if the phone is being tapped there may be some form of small equipment attached to it which could alter how it looks/

I doubt that your-parents are "tapping" your-cellular-telephone; not that your-parents are not nosy/watchful. The US-government has computers/analysts monitoring ALL "US-international"-calls for keywords. Other than that, it requires a court/judge-issued search-warrant to monitor/tap cellular/telephones. Not that illegal/warrantless cellular/telephone-monitoring/taps are unheard of; it takes a few-hundred-dollars of equipment to do so.

Well, if it is being tapped, you should notice some strange sounds in your phone. If you can hear other voices on the phone or if you can simply hear some static noise that should not be present, then there is some indication that the phone is tapped. You can also find out.

You cannot tell, except if you open up your phone (which i don't recommend). You should really talk to them about this. If you see obvious signs that the phone has been opened, then that is your answer.

Well I doubt that hey are but it is pretty easy. Wireless phone like call phones are not very secure. A person with an illegally modified scanner could easily listen into your conversation if they were in reach. So if you are talking about sensitive information either use code or don't use wireless phones.
