Before you start sealing your bluestone you to make sure that it is completly free of debris and all other markings. I would reccommend using a power washer before starting your project. There are multiple sealants that can be used just pick one suitable for 'cementious' pavers. This will make cleaning and removing marks much easier.

Well, you can use any type of glaze or sealer. Sealer works best for bluestone. You can purchase this at any hardware store.

Bluestone though dense, is still porous. In order to maintain the quality of this stone you need to seal it. You should seal it with high quality, invisible impregnating sealer like Dry-Treat sealer.Such sealers ensure that it is slip proof and the appearance of the stone does not get tarnished or loose its gloss.

Make sure you clean it first as any stains will be sealed in. Also make sure it was not already treated with a protectant or wax. There are a few products that will protect from water and stains and have extended warranties if applied by a professional.

You have to keep in mind that bluestone is porous. This means that, while it might apear prety solid, it has many small openings in the surface. Make sure you use a product designed for use on porous surfaces!

The best thing to do is to lay a bead of caulk in any cracks and then you can use a bluestone sealant to protect all of it.

Use a hydrochloric acid solution of 25 to 1. Spread the solution on to the surface of the stone and let it soak for about 5 minuets or so. With a garden hose rinse the area VERY well. This will prepare it for sealing
