Contact your State Department of Revenue to obtain this number which is called different things in different states. This number will help you avoid paying taxes twice on any product.

To obtain a DUNS number, call 1-866-705-5711 between 8am and 6pm on a weekday in the US. You will need to answer several questions before you get your number.

A DUNS number can certainly increase your financial credibility. You need to go to the Dun and Bradstreet website, now trendily known as dnb. com and follow their criteria to apply. Be aware however that your SSN is still out there, and obtaining a DUN will not improve your credit. Getting a DUN will not repair or hide prior credit issues.

Contact Dun and Bradstreet to get an application going. It costs around $499 to get a number established for the business. They will follow up with you and help complete the application.
