How can I make the most money when I sell an old painting?

One way would be to post an ad in the free or cheap section of the local newspaper. Another way would be to submit it to an auction house so people could bid on it. I have also seen paintings for sale in places like Goodwill stores and when they sell the artists gets part of the proceeds.

You will get the best price for a painting if you have a good background on it. Research the artist and background and look up possible prices online.

The first thing you need to do is get it appraised. Go to at least 3 reputable art dealers. The art dealers can help you sell it.

well you can not make much but there will be some people who will want to buy it for cheaper. you could also post it on craigslist to find some buyer to get it for half price or you could even make a little more if you convinced them to get it.

You should go to a dealer and find out the best value, or list it on ebay and see how high people are willing to bid.
