Some computers have a Microphone input jack, or even a built in microphone. If this is the case with yours, you can use that. If not, you will have to buy a usb interface from your local music store.

Acquire recording software so you can have multi-track capabilities. Find an audio input device which will allow you to connect instrument or mic and directly record to your computer. M-Audio makes relatively inexpensive ones. You can even use a computer mic with the software, but quality diminishes.
