You could make a chest out of cardboard or buy some sort of chest at a craft store. Then paint the chest to make it look old and add gold paint around the edges to make it look more authentic. Then fill it with play beads, money and other goodies.

The easiest way would be to get a simple wooden toy box and paint it brown with gold trim. Get a large lock and paint it gold then attach it to the front. You can also decorate the top to look like a treasure map instead of painting it brown.

You could probably build one out of wood and nails. Then you could paint it whatever color you wanted. Then you could fill it with whatever you wanted.
