How can I get rid of hornets?

I have had a hornets nest in my loft and i have just left it alone. The nest was there for a couple of years but on the third year the hornets did not return.

The best way is to get rid of the nest. You will want to do this at night when the hornets are calmer and less responsive. Get a broom or somthing similar and knock the nest down. Then stomp on it or sweep it where it cannot be saved.

The most effective way to get rid of hornets is to use a good, quality, name brand wasp and hornet spray and spray the hornet directly, however, if you choose to go this route, be sure to move away from them after you spray them. They will try to attack.

A Molotov cocktail works surprisingly well. I like to damp some cloth with lighter fluid, light it up and hoist it into the nest. This gets a bit smelly, but it works like a charm.
