How can I get help for staying calm in tough situations?

I always get out of control and not able to function.

Things you can try to regain control in tough situations are: Trying breathing exercises, finding someone you are comfortable talking to and letting them help you.

You are probably generating adrenalin, which is your body outfitting you to fight or flee. Use some of it to take the edge off: push against something immovable like a wall or door jamb. Or go for a walk or run. If these things don't help, talk to your physician.

There are a lot of books on how to control anxiety and stay calm. On your own, you can try taking three or four deep breaths before responding.
