This is REALLY serious. If you feel the children are in fear or danger, call your police IMMEDIATELY. Document any issue, with date and time, in a notebook, constantly, for the court. Call Human Services if you can't afford a lawyer, they'll walk you through what you need to do.

In matters involving children, most judges will not allow a person to act pro se (on their own) but require the involvment of an attorney. An attorney will prepare and file with the court a Petition for an Order of Protection, setting out the circumstances that reqire such an order to be signed by a judge.

Adults protect children, so an adult must request a protective order in order to keep children safe for specific reasons. Children are not named as requesting protective orders. The court will review the adult's petition and consider the welfare of the children, and issue an order as it is warranted.

If you feel someone is a danger to your children you should go to your local Police department and file a report. The officers will help you to get a protective order for both you and your children. They will explain everything you need to do for you so there is no confusion.

You need to talk to a lawyer to see if you can. Or you could look online. But you would probably get your answer from a lawyer just to make sure. I think it depends on the state you are in too, there are different laws in different states. A lawyer is the one you need to talk to.
