Genealogy. about. com, Genealogy. com and many related websites have extensive information on scholarships. Also remember, you can broaden your prospects by looking into a degree in history, without being specific to genealogy and this can be very beneficial to you. Study in statistics, sociology, and related fields can also open up many more financial aid options to you.

Genealogy is the area of effort in which you trace your family tree (or that of another person) and get information on your ancestors. It is not an area of academic study.

Genealogy CAN be an area of academic study! BYU, BYU-Idaho, Boston University, and other select schools offer Bachlors degrees in the field of Family History. I've found that Googling "Genealogy + scholarship" popped up a few sites such as the ones mentioned by mammakat above. Good luck!  add a comment

You can look online at different sites that show how and where to apply for scholarships. Once you find them, look up this particular site and find out what to do to apply.

The best way is to look online for heritage organizations, and to review their website or contact them to see if they provide scholarships. Most scholarship books (available at bookstores or admissions offices) or resource websites will have a specific section for genealogy and/or heritage-based scholarships and grants. Many scholarships will require some proof that you meet the qualifications.
