How can I emancipate my child in the state of Minnesota?

You do not emancipate a child. Application is made to the court and the court will determine if the child is to be emancipated. The court is not likely to approve this unless the child is old enough to legally secure housing and employment.

There is nothing defined in Minnesota law to emancipate a minor. This can only be done by a legal marriage or by the parent and minor going before the court to allow the Court's discretion in granting emancipation. Ostensibly, this would be a simple process, but the Court will ask to be assured that the minor will be self-supporting.
