Coin collectors have book that they can refer to. Take your coins in to have them appraised. Make sure that the coins are not in circulation. Coins need to be perserved in their original state.
The best way to determine value is to bring the collection in for an appraisal at a coin shop, often jewelers will do this as well. A browse through your local yellow pages should yield locations that will do this.
