Dust mites on houseplants is fairly common and can be easily controlled with a chemical spray, although I think that now there are organic and non-toxic alternatives as well. This is easy to find in your local hardware or nursery, and is simply sprayed onto the foliage of the plant.

There are a variety of things you can do. First off is a HEPA are filter. They will capture anything that doesn't belong. Air humidifiers will also kill off any insect, especially dust mites. These tactics will also make for a healthier plant and healthier home. They will contain not only dust mites but other allergens.

The most important thing to remember when reducing dust mites is to vacuum everything and to treat carpeted areas and cracks with a hand sprayer.
