How can be done for a stiff Moen shower diverter?

Any suggestions are welcome.

A stiff shower diverter is the result of water deposit inside the spigot. Clean the slide area using a scraping tool and a de-scaler. ie. Limeaway

First take the cap plate off that reveals a phillips head screw. Remove screw and diverter. Use a old tooth brush with some Mild cleaner to clean behind diverter. Reattach.
