The Boxing Day tsunami was one of the most devastating tsunamis in recent history, more than 100,000 people were killed in it and it cost the economies of several countries billions of dollars. They are still rebuilding now, and will continue for several years yet. So, the tsunami was very bad.

It was one of the worse, over 200,000 people died. One of the strongest earthquakes recorded, lasting the longest. It even changed the geography of the land.

The disaster in 2004, was caused by an earthquake beneath the Indian Ocean, whose epicentre was just off the coast of Sumatra, it had a magnitude of between 9.1 and 9.3, which is the third largest recorded. It caused one of the worst natural disasters ever, with waves of up to 30 metres high measured. More than 165,000 people died

It was one of the worst tsunamis ever recorded. Millions of people were killed, thousands of people were missing, homes and businesses were destroyed and damage totals raised into the millions.
