How and why did the Seven Years War (also called the French and Indian War) lead to a rupture between Britain and its North American colonies? Did the American colonists have sufficient reason to separate from Great Britain?

Several factors rose out of this conflict the most important being that the colonists felt that a spoil of being victorious in the war they were to be entitled to expanding into lands west beyond the Appalachians, the English denied them this reward they felt they rightly earned

The American colonists felt they were being taxed heavily for fighting Britain's war on what they considered their land. Some historians believe the colonists did not have enough reason. Though they claim high taxes without representation, they were not being as taxed as heavily as Britain's citizens. Also, if we had been granted representation, we still would have been taxed.
