In Britain, they use the Pound Sterling, not the dollar. The short name is GBP (Great Britain Pound), and the slang term is the "quid." The GBP equals 100 pennies in value. Half a pound is 50 pence or 'fifty pee" (50p). Coins range in value from one penny (worth 1.5 cents US) to two pounds (worth $3.08 us).

In Great Britain the currency is the British Pound (£). Most retailers will not accept the U.S. Dollar so you will need to exchange dollars for pounds at the bank.
