Basically this is what is called "valve lift". It is also the distance that the cam pushes the rocker up.

Cant get 60 words in this one. It is a pretty straight forward question.. It is called valve lash. Now is can fill the rest of this page with useless nonsense just to get to the fifty words or it would be better to screen questions such as this that have a two word answer.
