Where should I find Ford engine identification?

Is it on the engine valve covers?

On the newer ford models yes it is on the valve covers. However if you look at the casting located by the oil filter, you can see what "block" it is. However, the easiest way to find the ford motor code is the 8th digit of the VIN visible from the outside the car through the windshield.

If it doesn't say on the intake or the valve cover than look for a casting number =on the block. There should be a stamped number on it. Take this and look online on how to decode it.

Vehicle Identification Numbers are found in numerous places on vehicles. The numbers on the motor usually are stamped on passenger side lower rear towards the firewall.

Ford should put their logo somewhere on the engine. Most of the time it is on the Valve covers, however, in some really old models, I've seen it inside the air filter compartment.

first - go to car wash and wash your engine! Then just look at the right side of the engine ( it is not as a label, just numbers )
