In the Hebrew language, each letter of the alphabet stands for a number. There are no separate characters that stand for numbers. Beginning with aleph, the first ten letters stand for the numbers 1-10, the next nine letters stand for numbers 10-90, and the last four letters stand for numbers 100-400.

Numbers are not assigned for words in Hebrew. That said, some dictionaries (such as Strongs) assign index numbers to certain words in order for them to be found in those dictionaries.
