The angel Lucifer, now Satan, was removed from Heaven, but it is not clear whether it was by God's act or his own. Read Isaiah 14:12-15 for the whole context.

The Bible tells us that when Satan rebelled from God and lost, God cast him out of heaven and the angels that were on his side were also cast out. These are now what are referred to as demons.

There are several verses in the Bible. Ezekiel 28:11-16 is about the King of Tyre, once an angel as we all were, who got kicked out of heaven because of pride. Revelation 12:8-10 tell how Satan and the angels who followed him got kicked out of heaven to the earth. 2 Peter 2:3-5 also talks about where evil angels went.

At one time the devil was the most beautiful angel in Heaven. He began desiring to be the most important creature ever created, he desired to be greater than God. God had to prevent this by kicking him along with his angels that desired to be like him out of Heaven.
