Southwest Airlines is one of few airlines that does not charge for checked bags. Two checked bags are allowed to go for free with some weight and size limitations. Stay under 50 pounds and 62 combined inches (length x width x height) per bag to stay at zero dollars. If you go over these guidelines, charges begin at $50.

Although the Southwest Airlines ad slogan "Bags Fly Free" is not entirely accurate, Southwest does allow each passenger to check two standard-sized bags for free. Extra bags do cost either 50 or 110 dollars each, and overweight and overlength bags cost 50 dollars each, to check.
