Does sarcasm hurt the relationship?

Run.... Been married for 15 yrs to the most sarcastic person ever. Its a crazy thing to live with, it makes me queston every detail that he says because you never know whether they are serious or not! Its confusing, belittling, and makes you question your sanity.

Maybe you get him to articulate what he's grouchy about. Or, if it's not grouchiness, why he's always so sarcastic.

If it is intended as humor, he may not realize that you do not appreciate the humor - so tell him so. If his sarcasm is of compliments that he then turns into insults, then it is not humor but a means of demeaning you - in that case, tell him it is not allowed.

Sarcasm is not one of my favorite personality traits. I think that a lot of sarcasm can hurt a relationship, but a little is something that you can look past. I would have a conversation with him and tell him how you feel. If you keep it bottled up you will only get more hurt.

Yes, sarcasm can definitely hurt the relationship if it used in a way that confuses a partner or that hurts him or her. Sometimes sarcasm leads to confusion and misunderstanding because you can never tell what they actually mean.
