Yes, the saltwater does damage the limestone as it is a soft type of rock and the people who live near the ocean face this problem the most.

Salt water doesn't necessarily damage limestone. There are many buildings made of limestone that are standing in or near the sea. It is acids one should be careful of. Acid dissolves limestone. A good example is the acid rain that has etched away a lot of features on old European lime stone buildings.

Sure. Sald water damage limestone, marbles etc. so better you should take care to avoid contact between limestone and saltwater.
