Does milk thistle help treat hep C?

Milk thistle is said to be carried into the blood stream and directly to the most needed place, the liver, when treating hep C. People who currently live with hep C say it has helped them live a normal life with a well functioning liver.

Milk thistle is used as a homeopathic remedy for various liver ailments, one of which is hepatitis C. While there have been studies on this, it is still much debated if it helps treat all aspects of hepatitis C, though it has been proven to help protect the liver cells and even to regenerate them.

Milk thistle is a commonly reccomended treatment for Hep C because before Hep C was diagnosed, when people had the symptoms that occur during hep C this was a traditional remedy. To my knowledge this has never been scientifically tested.

While it dosen't directly treat the hepatitis C, it does promote good liver function. Supplementing milk thistle is a good idea for anyone with diseases which have been known to cause damage to the liver and other vital organs.
