Does cornmeal kill fire ants?

Or is this just an "old wives' tale"?

Plain cornmeal supposedly inhibits the growth of a fungus needed in the food digestion cycle. Self rising cornmeal is supposed to kill them by excess expansion in the digestive tract. If you prefer organic methods of handling pests this is worth a try. If it doesn't resolve the problem completely then you can try using a sweetener with aspartame.

No, cornmeal doesn't kill fire ants. I tried it many time because I read it on website. I guess the person that posted it was having a laugh because it does sound kinda funny.
