Yes, BMW makes a 4 cylinder diesel engine because of the efficientcy of the diesel. Diesel has much more power per liter of gasoline, so having a diesel engine makes much more sense than having a weaker, less eficient engine. BMW's diesels will be availible in the US beginning very soon

Yes, they do. They have announced that they will likely be including in the 3-Series and they have also suggested it could be available in 5-Series sedans in future too.

BMW Does currently make a 4 cylinder diesel engine that is only avaliable in the UK for the time being. BMW is currently making a USA Version of the 4 cylinder motor to meet emission standards and these motors will be tuned for performance. Expect to see this motor avaliable in the next 4 years.

yes BMW does make a 4 cylinder diesel engine and you can find this engine in some of the BMW 3 touring series such as the 316d, 318d, 320d. as well as the BMW some of the 5 sedan series such as the 520d. these have been said to save fuel and have very smooth acceleration.
