health procedures

Does anyone know if Medical Assistance such as GMA (General Medical Assistance) pays for a lap band procedure?

I really need to have this surgery and I was just wondering if anyone might know. I mean I would think they would pay it, if the doctor was to recommend it. I will be on Ucare through public assistance so maybe that helps!

You really have to call your insurance associate. Most insurances, particularly state assistance consider this elective surgery. You need to be onboard with your physician, have his office advocate completely to your insurance to state that this was necessary, life saving, life changing etc. This varies from state to state and company to company. Mental health issues can also apply.

The best way to tell if one's medical assistance will pay for bariatric surgery is to call the company handling your case and ask. They will tell you the conditions.
