Does a BKA hurt?

It's below the knee amputation.

Surgical amputations are done under anesthetic, so the patient is unconscious during the removal of the lower leg. A BKA can happen as a traumatic injury, but it would be rather quick, so as to minimize pain. The victim would likely become immediately unconscious. "Phantom pain," the feeling of pain in the missing limb is a far greater problem afterward.

Yes it sure does hurt! You'll most likely be unconscious for the procedure but afterwards like with anything that major, there is post-surgery pain, rehabilitation and any sort of residual pain brought by anything from weather to just spur of the moment phantom pains.

Yes , it probably does hurt, seeing that it is a major surgical procedure. You will have post-surgery pain, rehab pain, and any assorted pain result from the previvous illnes and/or trauma that caused the BKA to be preformed. Also some people suffer phatom pain.
