Normally after having a filling put in I do have some pain in my jaw for a day or two after. This doesn't have anything to do with the filling in my case, rather it's a problem I have with my jaw. When holding it open for long periods of time, I have pain.

Yes. My dentist had eight of my teeth filled and my jaws hurt really bad. It took them so long to finish the job so I had to open my mouth very long.

It isn't normal but does happen. The needle from the shots could have grazed a nerve. Definitely call your dentist if it still hurts and isn't getting better.

Your dentist probably had to drill extra deep, for an large cavity, which would cause the prolonged pain. Continue to take Tylenol for the next day or two, and the pain should subside by then. If you are still experiencing pain in a few days you should call your dentist and let them know.
