A bearded dragon lizard is considered a good 'starter reptile'. You can expect it to live about 10 years if properly cared for.

Bearded Dragons make excellent pets, because of their very social and calm nature. Their food is relatively inexpensive. Cleaning up after them is minimal, because they don't produce much waste.

It depends on what you are looking for. They require minimal responsibilities, and are just a level above hamsters or gerbils (they actually stink less). The only downside is that they have somewhat sharp claws that you must be careful with, and you will have to make petstore visits every few weeks to get crickets. Other than that they rock.

Like other reptiles, bearded dragons requirea very specific climate and rigurous diet; as pets they compare to turtles or birds, they lack interaction with their owner and mostly mind their own business. If you are OK with this, I guess it is up to you, but consider that reptiles are not meant for pets and need a lot of care.

I wouldn't call it dangerous if that's what you're worried about, but be careful. Bearded dragons require a lot of care, as do most reptiles. You'll need a heating lamp, a steady supply of bugs, maybe a book on how to care for them, etc. Hope it works out.

It depends on what you consider a good pet. Bearded dragons live about 8-10 years. They grow to about 24 inches in length and require at least a 40 gallon terrarium. They eat a variety of live insects and fresh vegetables and fruit.
