Do you think a dragon cross stitch pattern will be too hard for a beginner?

It's not the motif that makes a cross-stitch hard, it's the number of colors, frequency of thread changes and over-all size of the image. A small image with few colors and no half or quarter stitches will be easier. Lots of color shading in a large image is hard.

Cross stitch is a good hobby for those who like needlework. Numerous patterns are available. A dragon has a lot of solid area requiring many stitches and may discourage beginners.

Since cross stitch uses only one stitch design, no pattern should be too difficult. It is important to patiently work the stitches and ensure thread colors correspond to the pattern.
