Do you make assumptions about people without the facts?

I tend to do this and am often embarrassed by them.

Everyone judges other people when they first meet them. It's wrong and we shouldn't do it but some how we cannot stop ourselves. It's not bad as long as you actually take the time to get to know the person that you're making assumptions about. Often times you find out there is a reason they're the way they are.

I make assumptions based on looks very often. I assume pretty people are stupid or mean. I assume anyone with an edgy look will have a cool personality.

Relax; everybody makes assumptions. We base our thoughts on what we've learned through our education, environment, and experiences. These assumptions come from what we know about people in general.

Just without knowing anything about any paticular person one should not come to conclusion about his behaviour. Philosophy behind Mindfulness Mediation is all about observing every aspect of experience non-judgemental about it. Thats why they included it in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

The answer to this question is that never have any assumptions about people without knowing the full facts about them. A prejudice decision is always wrong.
