I like the clear plastic ones because they protect your cookbook from any kind of splatters or spills and keep it looking nice. They're nice to have, but once the book is opened, it takes about as much as space as just laying the book on the counter.

I have a mitiature rool top desk that I use I love it and it doesn't take up a ton of room in my kitchen and it keeps all my reciepes hidden and out of the reach of small children and pets you can do a net search as well and it will give you alot of options as well.

The best type is just a stand with a clothespin. It does not take up much space and can be put out of sight when not needed.
