Verizon phones work on a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) network and do not use SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards. SIM cards are used on a GSM (Global System for Mobile) network. In order to register a phone on the Verizon network, you have to make sure the ESN (Electronic Serial Number) is clear.

No, they do not have sim cards. If you have to get a new phone you need to either go to the store on online and activate it.

All phones have SIM cards. What happens with some carriers is that the SIM cards are built in so you can not remove it and add it to another phone. It's just a way to keep you with them.
