Do liver problems show up in your bloodwork?

Or do they need to do x-rays?

It is easy to detect liver problems through testing bloods. There are several different enzymes you can measure to do so. Some are direct indicators of how the liver is functioning and some are indirect. X-rays won't show that much about the liver other than possibly change in size. US, CT and MRI imaging can tell more.

X-rays cannot typically diagnose liver problems. Liver inflammation can be found with a CT, MRI, or ultrasound. Blood tests are also extremely accurate at diagnosing liver problems, since they can test the levels of liver enzymes in the blood.

Depending on the problem, the doctor can use either or may decide to use both. It's best to inform your doctor of all symptoms that you're experiencing.

Live problems will be showed in your blood tests. For example if you are having hepatitis C, then your liver enzymes will be altered.
