Employers contract with other servicers to do background checks for them. Some will hire before the background check is complete, based on the assumption that the application is accurate and true. Woe be to the employee that lies on the application.

Most employers don't check your background but the paperwork you sign does give them the right to check even after you're hired. Depending on the checks, it may cost them.

Only some prospective employers conduct background checks. If they say they'll check, they will. The cost of the search will vary according to which background investigation company they choose to use unless, of course, they choose to do it themselves. Checks can vary from a candidate's criminal history to driving record.
