Do I need to notify the IRS of my address change?

Like, is it a law I have to tell them?

You do not have to tell the IRS where you currently live. Your address change will be reported to the IRS when your employer sends a W-2 tax reporting form with your new address. If you do not work, you will still inform the IRS of your address when you file your annual tax return.

The IRS will be notified of your address change when you update your driver's license or state ID. They will also receive your new address when you start a new job and list the new address; the address used for the job's W-2 form is where they will send your salary summary for the year.
