Schedule E is for rental property. If you have rental property, you need to file schedule E. You report rent received and deduct any expenses you had that produced the rental receipts. If you have a loss, which is a good possibility with rental property, you can deduct the loss against current or future income.

Schedule E is for rents and royalties. If you have rental receipts, even if it's a loss, you need to file a return. You get credit for any losses. If you have no revenue or rental property, you don't need to file Schedule E.

This is for rental property. If you have rental property then you need to file a report. Read form E and file according to your status.
