Do HVAC vents need to be attached to the furnace?

A furnace needs to be properly balanced with intake and discharge vents. It is recommended to have a licensed technician look at your system before you start making adjustments. If you are doing a remodel, you can negatively affect your hvac performance and have increased heating and cooling costs as well.

For central heating and cooling systems all vents do need to be connected through ductwork to the furnace. The furnace and cooling evaporation coil will be connected to a fan that will distribute conditioned air through the ducts and out of the vents.
